If you walked across the stage at your high school graduation ceremony you probably were confronted by the options of college, military service, work force, etc. If you decide college is the place to go, then questions start to arise, how am I going to pay for college, where should I go, what do I want to study. Is college is a voluntary place to further your education or is it mandatory to achieve a decent paying job? College has now become something that everyone is choosing because no one wants to be paid minimum wages their whole life. A problem for college graduates today is the debt load that they come out of college with.

This debt makes life for these recent college graduates a struggle of making money to pay back their student loans and other fees that they might own the college. Is college worth it? College is worth the money you pay. According to Adam student with a 4year degree will earn $20,000 dollars more a year and over $1 million more in their lifetime. College education is shown that its not only worth it but that if you have an opportunity to go to college and further you knowledge that you should because it will be well worth both your time and money that you invested into it.

Cheever and Adam both had different ways of saying it, but both said that college in the long run if you earn a degree would be worth the extreme amount of money you paid. While Murray on the other hand thought that some people just arent meant to go to college and that college could just be a very big money and time waster if they go to a college system. While college prices and fees keep rising, college is still the way to go if you have what it takes to earn a degree.

If youre stuck on a decision of weather to go to college or not, well by reading Adam and Murrays essays about how college is worth the money because its making you more money consistently in your lifetime. The statics should make your decision clear cut and if not then motivation must be the factor in why you dont want to further educate yourself past high school. In Cheevers essay Is College Worth The Money he talks about if you do educate yourself then you will be more successful.

Adam Explains in his essay Is College Worth It he explains that college is the route to choose if you want to live a comfortable life with a well-paid job. While in Murrays essay Should The Obama Generation Drop Out? claims that if you earn a degree then it is worth the money, time, and effort. If you dont earn a degree you could have wasted a lot of energy and time of your life. The problem according to Murray is getting the degree it isnt going to be handed to you. You are going to have to work hard to achieve a good degree.

Some people dont want to work that hard, so the people who dont want to work hard and earn an education and college degree probably should waste their time coming to school. Murray claims that a bachelors degree is almost expected with employers today and that you should be picked for a job by what you can do not, not where you learned how to do it (101). Cheever states that we know we all are over paying for college, but his main concern is whether students are getting their money worth by going to college (102).

Adam says that college is too expensive and that if it was more affordable than more students would go, but even 18 year old kids have to start making money to support themselves and 57% of people in a recent survey said that they would rather work than go to school while 48% said they cant even afford school (61). The goal of the country should be that if anyone wants to further there education that they should be allowed to even if the dont have the money with them right away. College shouldnt be something that is out of reach for anyone.

It is called the American Dream for a reason because with hard work you can go from having nothing to being a well-paid businessman, athlete, artist, or etc. Nothing can be achieved with out hard work though and some people forget that anything worth having in life doesnt come easy. Cheever says that most parents are willing to invest or borrow $100,000 to help their kid make it out of college with a solid degree that will take him/her far in lifes journey (103). But what if your parents dont have the money?

Well then scholarships and grants could be a way for you to achieve your dreams of higher education. The solution to the problem of choosing whether or not college is the way to go is simple. If you can afford to go and have motivation to work hard for a degree in something you find interesting, then it truly is worth it to choose college first before going into the work force. Adam seemed to find the same solution in his essay that yes indeed college is the route to choose if you want to live a comfortable life with a good job (61).

Cheever stats that college is the right decision after high school but he believes that colleges also need to work harder to serve students long after their years are done at that college. There should be more benefits and alumni services for people who took the time to graduate (103). All in all, College is worth the money you pay. A student with a 4year degree will earn $20,000 dollars more a year and over $1 million more in their lifetime.

Post education is shown that its not only worth it but that if you have an opportunity to go to college and further you knowledge that you should because it will be well worth both your time and money that you invested into it. It might take a lot of time and work but in the end college is worth it. Let college be the stepping-stone for your life by starting it with a good education.
