It will also by people knowing that Guava [ Psidium Guajava ] and Rosemary [ Rosmarinus Officinalis ] can kill bacterias and fungi that many people can benefit. This will be made by using the two organic materials; Guava [Psidium Guajava] and Rosemary [Rosmarinus Officinalis] . I use Guava [Psidium Guajava] because this fruit has a nice smell and it can also be antimicrobial. This will be result to an antimicrobial,sweet and scented air freshener with the combination of two organic materials; the Guava [Psidium Guajava] and Rosemary [Rosmarinus Officinalis]. This two can kill bacterias and fungis.They are also both fragrant.This would be unlike to other freshener which has strong odors but using organic materials which has sweet smells.
CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION
I.Background of the study
We all know that air fresheners are common in cars and in our homes. When we have air fresheners, we feel comfortable because it gives us a great and fresh scent. Air fresheners are expensive that we cannot afford. It also contains chemicals and has a strong odor. Thats the advantage and disadvantage of air freshener with chemicals.
Air fresheners using organic materials can also give fragant scents like other commercial air freshener but this one does not contain chemicals and its scent is sweet not strong like commercial air freshener.That is why Ive conducted this study not just because of sweets smell but also for people to know that organic materials has an ability to be an air freshener. Guava [Psidium Guajava] is usually 4 to 12 centimetres long, are round or oval depending on the species. The outer skin may be rough, often with a bitter taste, or soft and sweet. Varying between species, the skin can be any thickness, is usually green before maturity, but becomes yellow, maroon, or green when ripe.Guava fruit generally have a pronounced and typical fragrance, similar to lemon rind but less sharp. Guava pulp may be sweet or sour, tasting something between pear and strawberry, off-white to deep pink , with the seeds in the central pulp of variable number and hardness, depending on species.
Rosemary [Rosmarinus Officinalis] an aromatic evergreen shrub that has leaves similar to pine needles. Forms range from upright to trailing; the upright forms can reach 1.5 m tall, rarely 2 m.The leaves are evergreen, 24 cm long and 25 mm broad, green above, and white below, with dense short woolly hair. The plant flowers in spring and summer in temperate climates but the plants can be in constant bloom in warm climates; flowers are white, pink, purple or deep blue.
Both of this two organic materials has a great fragant scent and both had a possibility to be an alternative air freshener.Thats why I conducted this study.
II.Statement of the Problem
This project tries to research the feasibility of Guava [Psidium Gujava] and Rosemary [Rosmarinus Officinalis] extract as an alternative air freshener that will be comparable to the ones which is sold in markets.
This tries to answer the following:
1) What does Guava [Psidium Guajava ] and Rosemary [Rosmarinus Officinalis] extract can do to be an alternative air freshener ? 2) Is it comparable to the ones which is sold in the market in terms of :
a. Cost ? b. Effectiveness ? c. Odor ?
III.Significance of the study
This project aims to make a product that will be an alternative for local air freshener that contain chemicals and expensive.This study is concentrating in the fragance and aromatic smell of Guava[Psidium Guajava] and Rosemary [Rosmarinus Officinalis]. People will save a lot of money because we will not use chemicals that are expensive.. People will smell fresh and fragrant scent with just a low-cost air freshener.

a. Air Freshener- are consumer products used in homes or commercial products used in house.buildings and in even in cars that typically emit fragrance. b. Guava[Psidium Guajava] The fruit, exuding a strong, sweet, musky odor when ripe, may be round, ovoid, or pear-shaped, 2 to 4 in long, with 4 or 5 protruding floral remnants (sepals) at the apex; and thin, light-yellow skin, frequently blushed with pink. he central pulp, concolorous or slightly darker in tone, is juicy and normally filled with very hard, yellowish seeds, 1/8 in (3 min) long, though some rare types have soft, chewable seeds. c. Rosemary [Rosmarinus Officinalis] is a woody,perennial herb with fragrant, evergreen, needle-like leaves and white, pink, purple or blue flowers, native to the Mediterranean region. Rosemary has been shown to have antioxidant properties. Antioxidants can neutralize harmful particles in the body known as free radicals, which damage cell membranes, tamper with DNA, and even cause cell death. Rosemary oil appears to have antimicrobial properties (killing some bacteria and fungi in test tubes).
V.Scope and Delimitation of the study
This study focused on experimenting the effectiveness of the Guava[Psidium Guajava] and Rosemary [Rosmarinus Officinalis] as an alternative air freshener.This is limited to the use of Guava[Psidium Guajava] and Rosemary [Rosmarinus Officinalis] and the other ingredients if it would be comparable to other Air Freshener.
